The MRC of Brome-Missisquoi supports two cultural activities as part of Black History Month

Cowansville, February 11, 2026 — As part of Black History Month, the MRC of Brome-Missisquoi is proud to support two cultural and community-based activities organized in Cowansville and Farnham. These initiatives aim to foster intercultural dialogue, civic participation, and the celebration of diversity across the region.

This support is part of the MRC’s Immigration Action Plan, whose objectives include promoting the social integration of immigrants, raising public awareness about living together and interculturalism, and better equipping newcomers with an understanding of how Québec society functions.

In recent years, the MRC of Brome-Missisquoi has observed an increase in immigration within its territory, primarily from countries in South America and Africa. Immigrants actively contribute to the vitality of the region, both in terms of workforce participation and civic, cultural, and community engagement.

Two Activities Supported by the MRC

Cowansville – Thursday, February 26 at 6 p.m.
At the Princess Cinema in Cowansville, the organization Le Sac à Mots will present a screening of the film Le dernier repas, followed by a discussion. This activity invites the public to collectively reflect on human and social issues through the lens of cinema. Free tickets are available through Sac à Mots at 450-266-3766. The MRC of Brome-Missisquoi is supporting this initiative with a $1,500 financial contribution for the film screening.

Farnham – Saturday, February 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Farnham Youth Centre (Maison des jeunes de Farnham) is organizing a cultural 4-to-7 event featuring workshops, testimonials, a traditional meal, and artistic performances in a spirit of gathering and sharing. The event will take place at the Farnham Public Market – Station Pierre-Bériau, located at 313 Hôtel-de-Ville Street in Farnham. The activity is free and open to the entire community. The MRC is supporting this initiative through financial assistance and implementation support in the amount of $3,622.

Through this support, the MRC of Brome-Missisquoi seeks to encourage community initiatives that contribute to an inclusive, open, and engaged society, while recognizing the contribution of Black communities to history and collective development.
