The Assessment Department of the MRC Brome-Missisquoi works to maintain a fair and up-to-date property assessment roll that reflects the true market value of properties in the area. To achieve this, we collect information on the costs of new constructions.

Article 16 - Hindrance

Every owner or occupant who refuses access to the property to the assessor or their representative acting under Article 15, or who hinders them without legitimate excuse, commits an offense and is liable to a fine of at least $100 and at most $50,000.

Article 18 - Information

The owner or occupant of a property or their representative must provide or make available to the assessor or their representative the information relating to the property which the latter requires for the exercise of their duties, as the latter may request, by means of a questionnaire or otherwise, or by making it available.

[Information]. – The owner of land or their representative must, in the same manner, when there is a property on it that must be entered on the roll in the name of its owner under Chapter V, provide or make available to the assessor or their representative the information which the latter requires for the exercise of their duties and which relates to the owner of said property.

Offense and penalty. – Every owner or occupant of a property or their representative who, without legitimate excuse, fails to provide or make available, as requested by the assessor or their representative, the information referred to in the first and second paragraphs, or provides or makes available false information, commits an offense and is liable to the fine provided for in Article 16.
