The MRC is responsible for granting permits for projects that require work on a watercourse and for granting certificates of approval for commercial tree cutting only.

Ruts and channels

Water that accumulates in ruts from heavy machinery or in the channels of a forestry road must be diverted perpendicularly away from watercourses, lakes and wetlands towards vegetation.

Note: For the purposes of applying the tree-cutting provisions, any permanent or intermittent flow of water will be considered a watercourse and regulatory provisions will apply. An inspection will take place prior to the issuing of the certificate in order to confirm the presence of a watercourse. A fee of $100 applies for the installation of one or more water crossings.
