An entire region mobilized to recruit specialist doctors in Brome-Missisquoi

Cowansville, June 19, 2026 — In response to the growing challenges facing the healthcare system, municipal elected officials, physicians, the BMP Foundation, Santé Québec Estrie – CHUS, and several partners from Brome-Missisquoi are joining forces to launch a regional initiative aimed at attracting new specialists and family physicians to the Brome-Missisquoi-Perkins (BMP) Hospital in Cowansville.

This unprecedented mobilization addresses a pressing need: the recruitment of hematologist-oncologists, a critical issue to ensure continuity of cancer care services for patients in the region.

“Behind this recruitment initiative are patients, families, and an entire community that wants to continue receiving care close to home. Today, the entire region is coming together to be part of the solution.”
— Sylvie Beauregard, Warden of the Brome-Missisquoi RCM and Mayor of Cowansville

A Regional Priority

BMP Hospital serves more than 70,000 residents. While several medical needs exist, the recruitment of hematologist-oncologists is currently the top priority.

The region is also seeking to fill several other physician positions over the coming years, including in the following specialties:

  • Gynecology
  • Psychiatry
  • Internal Medicine
  • Family Medicine

“Our teams are fully committed to serving the population. The arrival of new physicians would not only help strengthen essential services, but also support the professionals already in place and ensure the long-term sustainability of healthcare services in our community.”
— Dr. Judith Gagné, Medical Operations Coordinator, La Pommeraie Health Network

A Region That Welcomes and Supports

Beyond the professional opportunities available at BMP Hospital, Brome-Missisquoi offers a human-scale practice environment, close collaboration among healthcare professionals, and an exceptional quality of life.

Interested physicians can benefit from personalized support to facilitate their relocation to the region and help them and their families integrate into the community.

“This initiative demonstrates the strength of our collective mobilization. We want physicians to know that an entire region is ready to welcome them and support them in both their professional and personal aspirations.”
— Me Patrick Boucher, President of the BMP Foundation
