Modernization of curbside recycling

Since January 1, 2025, a wave of change has transformed the way blue bins are collected in Quebec. This newly modernized system is being gradually rolled out across the province. From now on, we refer to the recycling bin (blue bin) rather than the recovery bin, to better reflect the full materials management process.

This shift is led by Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ), appointed by RECYC-QUÉBEC to oversee curbside recycling. Thanks to a new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach, the companies that place containers, packaging, and printed matter on the market are now responsible for their recovery, sorting, and recycling.

This new model aims to deliver more efficient, province-wide harmonized waste management, rooted in the principles of the circular economy. For Brome-Missisquoi residents, this means clearer guidelines, simpler sorting, and better recovery of materials.

To sum up: your recovery bin is for Containers, Packaging, and Printed material (CPP) only. That’s it.

Bac Impact is Quebec’s new go-to resource for everything related to curbside recycling. Its goal: to help everyone sort better at home and understand the real-world impact of what we put in the recovery bin.

Proper sorting is the first step toward a more efficient circular economy. By placing only containers, packaging, and printed material matter in your bin, you help improve the quality of recovered materials and support a more sustainable system.

Because when everyone does their part, the entire community benefits.

Container management

This service is mainly intended for multi-unit buildings, as well as industries, businesses, and institutions (IBI) already served by their municipality.

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about whether your location is affected, how to prepare, and what your container options are.
