Winter

Get ready for winter in Quebec!

The temperature in winter months (November to early April) ranges between 5 and -30 °C. The coldest months are January and February. Wind and humidity can make it feel even colder. Blue skies in winter mean that is very likely cold outside!

It is important to dress properly when going outside. Winter must-haves include: winter jacket, warm hat (also called a toque), scarf, boots, mittens and gloves. Elementary-age schoolchildren also need snowpants. You can save money by shopping for these clothing items at thrift stores (stores that sell used clothing).
