Tenant obligations
Tenants must pay rent on the date defined in the lease (usually the 1st of each month). Tenants must perform normal apartment maintenance: taking out the trash, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathroom, making sure the smoke detectors work, etc.
If you are planning to move, you must let your landlord know three months before the end of your lease and restore the apartment to a good state of repair.
Tenant rights
You have the right to have a roommate. Ideally, your roommate’s name should also appear on the lease.
Your landlord must give you advance notice if they need to enter your apartment, except in an emergency (e.g., water is leaking from your apartment and causing damage).
