Pharmacies

There are many pharmacies in the region, including Uniprix, Jean Coutu, Familiprix, Brunet and Proxim. To find a pharmacy near you, just search its name using Google.

Prescription drugs

The pharmacy will open a file in your name the first time you visit with a prescription from a doctor.

Just present your RAMQ health insurance card and your private insurance card (if you have group insurance with your employer).

If you are on social assistance, you can present your claim slip. You will need to pay the percentage of the prescription drug that is not covered.

If you are an asylum seeker, you have prescription drug coverage through the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). You must present your refugee protection claimant document (“brown paper”).

Asylum seeker

If you are an asylum seeker, you are covered for medication through the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). You must present your refugee protection claimant document (“brown paper”).

Prescription drug insurance

Everyone in Quebec is required to have prescription drug insurance. People without group or private insurance (with the exception of asylum seekers) must sign up for the RAMQ’s prescription drug insurance plan. You can reach the RAMQ at 1-800-561-9749.
